Join BLQ Medium for Black As U R: A Cultural Salon Experience. This evening features film, conversation, and community. The night opens with a cocktail hour at 6:00pm, giving guests a chance to mingle before settling in for a special drag performance and a collective screening of filmmaker Micheal Rice's acclaimed documentary Black As U R, which explores the homophobia that persists in many Black spaces through both a broader cultural lens and Micheal's own upbringing in the South. Following the screening, we'll host an intimate dialogue led by BLQ Medium's President & CEO A.J. Lucky. The film has been recognized at multiple festivals, including the Micheaux Film Festival, Out In The Silence, Columbus Black International Film Festival, and aGLIFF Austin.
