Oscar nominated, SXSW Grand Jury Award winning director, Lexi Alexander, was offered this as her first big studio film. Despite knowing nothing about comic books, her agent pushed her to do it and I can't thank her agent enough. The result is one of the most bonkers, hyper-violent, insane movies to feature Wayne “Newman” Knight. Featuring a scene-chewing performance from Dominic West (The Wire, 300, Chicago) as arch-villain, Jigsaw, and a surprisingly grounded Julie Benz (Dexter, Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as our ingenue, this movie starts at a sprint and just ramps it up from there. Ray Stevenson barges his way through every scene as the titular Punisher, carrying all of us with him through the insanity of this over-the-top wonder. This flick will make you wish all of the MCU had followed suit.
