Jason Aukerman is Director of the Ray Bradbury Center and a Professor of American Studies. His teaching and research focus on skeptical thinking and the advancement of literacy, with an emphasis on helping students read carefully, question confidently, and engage ideas with intellectual curiosity rather than easy certainty. He brings this approach to the classroom through accessible and intellectually rigorous courses such as American Supernatural, Conspiracy Theories, Science Fiction, and Banned Books.
Aukerman is also a frequent public speaker on issues of book banning and censorship, often drawing on Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 to connect contemporary cultural debates to the enduring stakes of intellectual freedom and democratic responsibility.
Synopsis: Librarians unite to combat book banning, defending intellectual freedom on democracy's frontlines amid unprecedented censorship in Texas, Florida, and beyond.
