This program brings six films to Toronto for the first time – each approaching landscapes and our relationship to them from distinct perspectives and across different regions. The films move between animation, intimate testimony, investigative documentary, dance, and experimental modes of storytelling. Together, they explore the beauty and complexity of our natural world, and the forces that transform, exploit, protect, and reshape it. Films includes: Tierra (Canada, 2 min), Quinte West (Canada, 2 min), Future (Ghana, 7 min), How it Begins (France, 12 min), Concrete Moves (Senegal, 12 min), and Wild East (Canada/US, 36 min).
Now in our 26th year, Planet in Focus is an environmental media arts organization with year-round programming. Our mandate is to produce cultural events that showcase engaging and artistic films that question, explore and tell stories about the world in which we live. We use film as a catalyst for public awareness, discussion and engagement on a broad range of environmental issues.
