Callie shines as the charismatic star of the drama class, while Minnie stays in her protective shadow. Coming from a frenzied and messy home life, Minnie finds comfort in Callie’s wealthy, elegant world and family. When their friendship suddenly ruptures at the start of summer, a directionless Minnie must navigate the school year on her own terms. Struggling to find a new identity, she forms a complicated relationship with Callie’s poised, attentive mother and pulls further away from her own chaotic home.
