In 1992 post-dictatorship Chile, 9-year-old Inés (Maya O’Rourke) spends a long winter at her grandparents’ remote mountain hotel. She strikes up a friendship with 15-year-old German skier Hanna (Maia Domagala), fascinated by the attention Hanna receives from the men around her. When Hanna vanishes without a trace, the ensuing search for her threatens to expose deeper hidden truths within Inés’ own family. Against the striking frigid landscape of the Chilean Andes, writer-director Manuela Martelli elegantly crafts a taut and beguiling thriller that speaks to the consequences of thawing secrecy in the wake of oppression.
