WILDER

Told almost exclusively through his own voice and iconic on-screen performances, WILDER is an intimate portrait of beloved comedic actor Gene Wilder, star of WILLY WONKA, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, THE PRODUCERS, BLAZING SADDLES, and more. Directed by Chris Smith (SR., HIFF Closing Night 2023), the documentary examines Wilder's journey from neurotic outsider to unlikely leading man, exploring the fine line between an artist's personal struggles and creative genius. Drawing from rare archival footage and insights from his nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman, the film examines the intangible brilliance that helped make Gene one of the most beloved and influential actors of the 20th century.
