July 20—12:00 pm – 2:30 pm *This workshop is intended for ages 13-18; tickets may be purchased for this workshop exclusively or as a series bundle This teen art workshop offers a general introduction to printmaking as an artistic form, and a complete introduction to the techniques and possibilities of linoleum carving and block-printing. As part of our Summer Paper & Printmaking series, this workshop emphasizes skill-building, experimentation, material exploration, and process-based approaches to art-making. Participants will be guided through the exciting process of developing a design, translating it into a linoleum carving and printing it on both paper and fabric. This workshop is the perfect place to start for anyone who has ever been curious about printmaking, stamp carving, or textile design. This workshop is taught by Isabella Poutiatine (she/her). Isabella is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, and educator as well as Coordinator of the Heimbold Children’s Center, Early Childhood Education, and Art Workshops at Scandinavia House. She brings years of experience teaching youth, adolescents, and adults in studio and gallery settings. Her work - both in the studio and classroom - emphasizes the importance of narrative, storytelling, and the development of a unique artistic voice that captures, translates and celebrates each student’s individual experience and identity. All materials, postage, and addresses are provided. No prior experience is required.
