Opening Night on Friday, October 9 will include screenings of the Faroese feature film The Last Paradise on Earth (Seinasta paradís á jørð, dir. Sakaris Stórá, 2025), followed by the Icelandic short film Blaðberinn (Paperboy, 2019, dir. Ninna Pálmadóttir) and and the Greenlandic short film Oqaluttuap Akia (The Price of a Story, dir. Lukáš Masner, 2024). In The Last Paradise on Earth, a grieving young man desperately tries to hold together his fractured family and his own paradise in the Faroe Islands in a poignant and visually stunning small-town drama. In 2025 The Last Paradise on Earth premiered and became the first Faroese feature film ever to be nominated for the Nordic Council Film Prize — an award it furthermore won. In Blaðberinn, a small town paperboy has his world shaken when peers into his neighbor's window and connects with a traumatized woman. And in the scenic short film Oqaluttuap Akia, a rich Czech tourist and an Inuit shaman (Angakkoq) meet to discuss a legendary encounter between their respective ancestors during the time of the first Christian missionaries in Greenland.
